Managed It Services Firm ImageQuest Suggests Holding Off On Windows 11 Upgrade

ImageQuestIf you’re thinking about upgrading to Windows 11, read this first. We talked with the experts, and you might be surprised at what they had to say.

Every time a new version of Windows comes out, people rush to install it. But unfortunately, as we have seen with the rollouts in the past, Windows 11 doesn’t live up to the hype just yet. We recently talked with Nashville-based managed IT services provider ImageQuest to get an expert viewpoint on whether or not we should leave Windows 10 behind. With permission, we’re sharing a bit of insight on why they told us to wait.

According to techs at ImageQuest, Windows 11 is not a disaster. However, they report that many of their clients have run into significant issues when running printers and specialized business applications. Windows 11 is also showing difficulties with certain online security features. This is especially prevalent in businesses that run in-house designed software and systems.

Along with problems interfacing with business processes, Windows 11 has also shown some bugs, and complications, which is expected in any initial rollout. Furthermore, it’s missing some of the features Microsoft promised when it first announced Windows 11 over the summer. While ImageQuest and other managed IT services providers look forward to the added security Windows 11 promises, the team here suggests that it might be best to wait a few months before installation.

ImageQuest further emphasized that larger companies with an on-site IT department will definitely want to hold off until the bugs are worked out and the drivers are updated. This is because it would be easy for a small IT team to get overwhelmed with tickets, which would ultimately end in rolling their system back to Windows 10 anyway. The company also noted that organizations that are still using an older version of Windows (yes, that includes Windows 7!) Should most definitely hold off as Windows 11 may not be compatible with their hardware.

On the positive side, ImageQuest’s techs did tell us that Windows 11 gets generally good reviews for aesthetics and feel. But, good looks don’t necessarily make for a great operating system, and we’ve chosen to take the advice and wait until updating is a hassle-free experience.
