As the founder of Moving Squad, Aldo Disorbo spends his days helping people navigate their personal and business belongings through the murky waters of short- and long-distance relocations. However, when he isn’t managing one of the most successful moving companies in Florida, Aldo Disorbo likes to head for clearer waters.
Information Nation: How long have you lived in Florida?
Aldo Disorbo: I graduated high school here. This is my home.
Information Nation: And you enjoy boating?
Aldo Disorbo: Yes, you could say that. I spend most of my time on the water when I’m not working.
Information Nation: Do you usually head out to the ocean?
Aldo Disorbo: I do, yes. However, Florida also has an expansive network of lakes that I really enjoy.
Information Nation: Let’s talk about those. Which landlocked bodies of water do you particularly enjoy and why?
Aldo Disorbo: I love them all, but several come to mind, like Lake George.
Information Nation: That’s one of the biggest lakes, right?
Aldo Disorbo: At around 46,000 acres Lake George is the second largest in the state. It’s about half an hour east of Ocala and is an amazing place to putt around on a small boat for several hours.
Information Nation: Do you fish?
Aldo Disorbo: I do, and Lake George is also one of the best bass fishing lakes in the state.
Information Nation: There are several lakes in that area, aren’t there?
Aldo Disorbo: Crescent Lake isn’t too far away and actually has clearer waters than Lake George. Something I like about Crescent Lake is that it’s almost picture-perfect. There are plenty of deep waters to cruise around in and shallow areas to dock.
Information Nation: We understand that Lake Monroe is also popular.
Aldo Disorbo: It wasn’t always but thanks to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, it’s now an A-list destination.
Information Nation: For fishing?
Aldo Disorbo: Yes, Lake Monroe is more than 9,000 acres with extreme variable depths. Fishing can be difficult but the payoffs are awesome.
Information Nation: What kinds of fish are in the area?
Aldo Disorbo: People mostly hit Monroe for the bass. It’s not uncommon to catch 7-8 pounders. Also, it has two ramps, which means less wait time.
Information Nation: Let’s switch gears for a minute and talk about different kinds of boats.
Aldo Disorbo: There are dozens of different types of boats from small aluminum fishing boats to extravagant yachts that resemble tiny cruise liners.
Information Nation: What kind of boat do you prefer?
Aldo Disorbo: Definitely a slightly larger boat with ample space to move around. Personally, I like bowriders and cabin cruisers but cuddy cabins are also popular and very versatile.
Information Nation: What is a cuddy cabin?
Aldo Disorbo: It’s essentially a sectional underneath the main area of the boat. It’s great for people who don’t want to spend the money on a larger vessel but would like to be able to get out of the sun. They are also very good for families with children who may need to take a nap.
Information Nation: What is the difference between sailboats and other watercraft?
Aldo Disorbo: Sailboats are powered by wind. All other boats, including personal watercraft, are powered by an engine.
Information Nation: What’s the appeal of the water?
Aldo Disorbo: I love the freedom to explore all of Florida’s natural beauty. Plus, it helps me clear my mind so that I can run my businesses better.
Information Nation: Do you have any advice for people who are new to boating?
Aldo Disorbo: I would definitely suggest joining a boat rental club before committing a large amount of money to a single vessel in order to determine if it’s the right boat for their particular wants and needs.
Information Nation: That is definitely something to keep in mind. We do appreciate your speaking with us today, and we look forward to talking with you again in the future.
Aldo Disorbo: It has been my pleasure.

I am shopping for a new boat now… I may take the advice that Aldo Disorbo mentioned here and try a larger boat or rent a few before “taking the plunge.” I see those people on the mini cruise ships. I always wonder how they afford those monsters.
The ocean is why people come to Florida. Aldo Disorbo makes a few good points about boating in that you should try a rental club before dropping $$$ on a personal vessel. I know families who stay in the rentals because they want one thing one day and something else the next. Thanks to Mr. Aldo Disorbo for pointing out a few good fishing spots though.
Aldo Disorbo forgot to mention the other recreational activities on Florida’s lake system… I enjoy swimming and vacationing in general. There is a really cool resort on Lake Crescent that has cabins and hosts events pretty regularly.
Lake George is great. My buddies and I take the day off work sometimes to get out on the water. Aldo Disorbo is right about manning a small boat. Even as large a surface area as George has, there are benefits to a smaller craft…like docking in shallow shore area.
